Q1 2026 Roundup and Highlights

PowerLabs at MIT's Tough Tech Demo Day in Cambridge, MA

We’ve done a lot in the past few months, so here are some major updates about PowerLabs you might have missed:

What's New

  • NPR Story: Reporters from WBUR, Boston’s NPR station, interviewed us first at the Tough Tech event, then a few weeks ago visited our lab in Beverly. They ran the story on March 26th. You can listen & read it here.
  • Our Lead Developer, Stefan Forsberg, has implemented our iOS app for full system control over the Roav. The app allows you to schedule array deployment, see real-time metrics, and track power production over time.
  • We’ve built out office space and updated our Beverly lab. This creates more usable space for the team working hands-on in the shop, while adding space for desks, conference calls etc.
  • In the Fall of 2025, we received our fourth round of funding from NavalX and the DoW to continue development of the Roav. Through the continued support of MassCEC, we were able to hire 7 interns from colleges and technical trade schools, throughout 2025 and into 2026.

Public demonstrations for the Roav have begun!

  • This Roav prototype made its debut at The Engine’s Tough Tech Week on the MIT campus in October. Along with nearly 100 other ventures, we were invited to demo for attendees who showed real interest, asking great questions, floating their own use cases, and watching Roav in action.
  • In November, we partnered with Green Beverly to power their annual Pumpkin Smash event. The Roav was deployed in a field at Morraine Farm to provide vendors with power, as an alternative to a diesel generator.

Looking ahead for Q2 and beyond

  • Be one of the first to own the Roav: We’re officially opening up orders for the first Roav units. If you’ve been waiting, want to be one of the first to bring one to your job site, institution, home, or otherwise, here's your chance. This is a true Beta customer partnership, where we'll be working closely with you to learn as much as we can for optimizing the system. Join the list here.
  • Our first fundraise: We’ve also begun our first fundraise. If you know an accredited investor who may be interested, let us know.
  • Spring and Summer Demos: Finally, if you have an event, specific use case, or just want to pilot the Roav as a power alternative, we’re currently planning for spring and summer demonstrations. Contact us here.
